Chapada dos Veadeiros is located a 280 kilometers north of Brasília, in the state of Goiás,with an area of 231.000 square mi. It is abundant with fauna, flora, several waterfalls, canyons & hot water springs .The vegetation is varied: the trees are low and curved, and the plants are usually ground-high. It is similar to the Savanna vegetation in Africa. There are also gallery forests with species like the purple trumpet-bush, copal trees, pepper trees, prickly ash trees, queen palm trees, murity palm trees, babaçu palm trees, as well as over 25 types of orchids.The park is home to threatened species such as pampa deer, swamp deer, jaguars, guará wolves, rheas, crested seriemas, tapitis (small hare-like rodents), giant armadillos, great anteaters, capybaras, tapirs, rheas, Maned wolf , toucans, king vultures and black vultures.
