The Blue Nile starts in Lake Tana in Ethiopia and joins the White Nile in Khartoum, Sudan before going into Egypt. We went to this rather remote area known for the first cataract of the Blue Nile. We were the only ones there other than the shephards. The real waterfall is 3 times what you see in the pics during the rainy season, a spectacle visited by many. Lake Tana has several islands all of them containing 800 year old Orthodox churches with all services done in Aramaiac- the language of Jesus Christ.
