Watching the sun rise behind the water is every photographer's dream...and Assi ghat is the only place I've visited so far that has the perfect setting of a rising sun as backdrop to the serene river Ganges, the holy river of the Hindus. Assi Ghat, isthe only place in India where the river Ganges flow south to North.. a place full of colors.. a place so vibrant that you will feel every color soaking though the water in your veins. Varanasi has often been stated as the oldest living city in the world that has also been the seat of Hinduism from 1000 BC. Pundits(pun intended) please note that the Ramcharitramanas was written by Sant Tulsidas in the 16th century on these banks. Buddha preached here circa 520 BC
